Biography
Dr. Hakan Usta is a Professor of Materials Science and Chemistry in the Department of Nanotechnology Engineering at AGU. He received his B.S. in Chemistry in 2004 from Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) and obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) under the supervision of Prof. Tobin J. Marks in 2008. He then joined Polyera Corporation, Illinois Science & Technology Park (Skokie, IL), where he worked in the Senior Research Scientist and the Project Leader positions between 2008-2013. During these years, the Polyera R&D Team has received three important international awards: Flexi R&D Award, FlexTech Alliance (USA) in 2011; IDTechEx Printed Electronics Europe Award (Germany) in 2010; and US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Innovation Award (USA) in 2010. In 2013, Dr. Usta joined the faculty at AGU.
Dr. Usta received the 2014-BAGEP Distinguished Young Scientist Award, 2015-The Young Scientist of the Year (Science Heroes Association), 2015-The Young Scientists Award (TÜBA-GEBİP), and 2020-Tübitak Science Incentive Award (Teşvik Ödülü) in the field of materials science and nanotechnology. Dr. Usta has published more than 70 SCI research articles in top-tier journals with a total international citation of more than 5000. He has 3 book chapters with Wiley and Elsevier, and holds 14 international patents.
